Our approach

Montessori, in our own words

Graded wooden blocks in a row on a rug, with a child's hand reaching for the smallest

A room built for children

Furniture is child-sized, and materials sit on low open shelves, so a child can choose work and put it back without asking.

A primary room with a low table, child-height chairs, a rug and a rack of coats beside tall windows

Guides who step back

A guide gives a short lesson, then watches. Every child moves at their own pace, and we call it Montessori because that is how the rooms work.

On the shelves

Four areas of the room

  • Practical life

Pouring, sweeping, buttoning, washing a table. Real tasks at a child's size.

  • Sensorial

Wooden blocks, cylinders and color tablets to look at, handle and compare.

  • Language

Songs, stories and sandpaper letters, with a word for what a child is doing.

  • Math

Counting with beads, rods and tiles that children can hold and move.

See it in a room

Standing in a Montessori room shows more than a description can.
