A day at Wool

A long morning, with time to finish what a child starts

The day keeps its order

The day moves in the same order, so children know what comes next. The longest stretch is the work cycle in the morning, when children choose their own work.

Lessons are short

A guide gives a short lesson to one child or a small group at a time, then steps back while children work and finish what they start.

The order of the day

From the door to pickup

  1. 01
    8:30 am

    Step 1: Arrival

A guide greets each child at the door. Children hang up a coat, wash their hands and find their first piece of work.

  2. 02
    9:00 am

    Step 2: Work cycle

Children choose work from the shelves and stay with it as long as they like. Guides give lessons, then step back.

  3. 03
    10:30 am

    Step 3: Snack

Snack is prepared in the room. Children set the table, serve a friend and clean up afterward.

  4. 04
    11:00 am

    Step 4: Outdoor time

The garden is part of the school day, in every season, with the rain gear on the hooks by the door.

  5. 05
    12:00 pm

    Step 5: Circle and story

Songs, a poem or a picture book, sitting together on the rug before the morning ends.

  6. 06
    12:30 pm

Step 6: Pickup, or lunch and rest

Half-day families pick up at 12:30 pm. School-day children eat lunch from home, then rest or do quiet work until 3:30 pm.
